Natural, organic baby sunscreen?

I am looking for a baby sunscreen that doesn’t contain chemicals but is still effective. I realize this may be a long shot, but does anyone know of a product like this?

Absolutely! There are a ton of products out there. I don’t know where you live, but you can visit your local health food store or organic grocer.
In my area we have Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Fruitful Yield. Whole Foods would be a great place to start. They have a huge selection. (Some places have Wild Oats instead of Whole Foods.)

The brands that I can think of off the top of my head would be “Alba”, “Jason”, “Kiss My Face”

If you can’t find a store near you, you can always shop online. I’ve included a link to drugstore.com that shows some different brands of natural sunscreen. (And they work well. I have personally used Alba and Kiss My Face brands. They work just the same as any other sunscreen.)

Kudos to you for investigating natural options for your baby. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and absorbs whatever we put onto it into our blood/body. (In fact, there are many medications that are given in cream form–because the active ingredient can be absorbed that way.) So, it’s awesome that you’re trying to keep your little peanut chemical free.
Way to go!

:)

Preparing for pregnancy for a whole year?

my husband and i decided we would like to start trying. i would love to have a baby this year. i’m 22 yrs old and i heard the healthiest babies are born to mothers 17-22. so i dont want to leave it too late. especially as my husband is a bit older. anyway he’s a nutritonist and he gave me a list of things to do

1. I can’t eat any processed foods like chocolate / ice cream / cookies :’( , fast food, red meat, table sugar, salt, not allowed to drink coffee, alcohol
2. I have to eat a balanced diet of 8+ servings of organic fruits & veges, wholegrain cereals, milk, eggs, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish twice a week (i hate fish), drink 8 glasses of water a day
3. Folic acid , multi vitamin, fish oil supplements
4. Light exercise 5 x a week ( I usually do this but sometimes I get lazy)
5. Meditate everyday and think positively (lol)

ive just summarized it , the actual thing is pages, anyway i have to do this for a whole year!

Do you think this is a bit over the top?

Just fyi, I’m a very healthy, spiritual person and naturally live similar to the guidelines you’ve layed out, and I’m still not pregnant after 13 months of ttc. My mom and sisters all smoked, drank, and ate horribly before their pregnancies and were overweight. Between the 3 of them, they have 8 kids. So, my point is, don’t worry about things like that. Be healthy for yourself, but you don’t have to be a nazi about it. It doesn’t make much difference. Good luck to you!

thanks for all the answers and i have dr bronners soap and i dont think it all that great i have tried baby wash and that is wonderful

I have very sensitive skin and have found Dr Bronner’s Soaps are wonderful. These are organic, all natural glycerin soaps.

http://www.drbronners.com

baby soaps will clean adult skin but most commercial baby soaps have chemicals in them that cause the skins to itch and dry out. Dr Bronner’s does not. I have been using it for the past 20 years or so with wonderful results.
